Robotic Machines

Introduction:

Robotic machines have been around for quite some time now. And they’ve become increasingly

popular as technology advances. A lot of people think robots are only useful for military

applications and jobs where safety is of great importance. But actually, many different types

of industries use them today. One example would be the food industry. Food processing

companies rely heavily on automated machinery to help automate processes and save money.

Other examples include hospitals, construction sites, and even retail stores.

Robotic machines have several advantages compared to human-operated ones. First,

they don’t need rest breaks. Second, they stay sharp without having to take a break or get

tired. Third, they never get sick. Fourth, they never complain about their workload and never

feel stressed out. Fifth, they are always ready to serve 24/7. Sixth, they are versatile and can

work in extreme conditions.

Robotic Machines

As mentioned above, robotic machines have several advantages over humans. But there

are still a few things we should consider before using these machines. First, it takes a lot

longer to learn how to operate them properly than it does to teach someone else how to do it.

So, if you hire a robot instead of teaching someone else, you will likely end up paying more in

the long run. Second, they aren't very good at dealing with change. If something unexpected

happens, they won't know what to do. And third, if a robot fails to show up, it might mean that

it's broken or malfunctioning.

Robotic harvesters:

In recent years companies have been trying to automate their harvesting processes. In the

past, farmers would find themselves spending hours a day driving around fields manually

picking each crop. Now companies are using robotic technology to make the job easier, faster,

and safer. These automatic machines are able to do all of the hard work while the farmer can

focus on taking care of other aspects of the farm.

Drone-powered harvesters:

Drones are becoming increasingly popular in farming due to the fact that they are often

cheaper than traditional methods. Drones are able to get really close to crops and use

advanced technologies to analyze how much crop is present at any given time. Companies

can then use this information to plan out their harvest schedule and ensure that they always

have enough food. Farmers are able to use drones to gather data about the current state of

their farms rather than relying on guesswork.

Drying systems:

Many farmers still believe that drying crops is an effective way to preserve food. There are

many different types of dryers ranging from fans, ovens, and solar dryers to name just a few.

A typical fan-dried system can be installed onto a trailer and drive over the field pulling the air

through with them. Ovens work by heating the air until the moisture content reaches zero.

Solar dryers work by reflecting sunlight onto the crops which heats up the air above them.

Fans and ovens are less expensive options than solar dryers however they don’t provide the

same level of efficiency.

Precision spraying:

Farmers spray pesticides on crops to protect them from insects. However, some farmers

believe there may be alternative ways to help the environment without the use of harmful

chemicals. One example includes precision spraying where an automated machine sprays

pesticides that have been proven safe for humans directly onto crops. The idea here is to only

apply pesticides when necessary and not spray the entire field unnecessarily.

Crop thinning:

Crop thinnings are the portions of a crop that remain after the farmer removes everything

else. The farmer uses these parts of the crop to feed animals or sell them as fertilizer.

However, sometimes removing every single stalk of corn wastes valuable nutrients that

could have gone into the next season's crop. There are now companies like Clearfield

Technologies that use precision agriculture sensors to measure the growth of individual stalks

and remove them before they become mature. This improves the quality of the remaining

crop and helps prevent nutrient loss.

Soil scanning:

Soil scanners are cameras that scan the surface of the ground. They take pictures of the

topography of the land determining things like rocks, roots, and moisture levels. The farmer

can input this data into a computer program designed to detect weeds and improve fertilizer

application.

Fertility mapping:

Fertility maps are created based on samples taken from the farm. The company will go into

the field and collect multiple samples from various areas of the field. From these samples,

they are able to create a fertility map representing the nutrient content in the area. Using this

map, the farmer is better able to understand what nutrients need to be added to specific

sections of the field in order to keep the crops healthy.

Racks:

Rack systems are a type of automated irrigation system used to water plants. These racks

have many features that make them unique from other types of water systems, including

automatic timers, variable-rate flow control, and temperature sensing technologies. As soon as

these systems are set up properly, they reduce labor time by making sure that each plant

receives the right amount of water at the correct times.

Irrigation controllers:

An irrigation controller is a device that manages the flow of water in a garden or farm.

Controllers vary greatly in their design and complexity. A simple model might consist of a few

buttons that turn valves on and off while others could be programmed to perform complex

tasks like controlling multiple zones.

Watering tubes:

Watering tubes are long pipes that run under the ground. When activated, they allow water to

move down to plants automatically. These are commonly used in urban gardening projects

where space is at a premium.

Hydroponic systems:

Hydroponic systems use nutrient-rich solutions instead of soil to grow plants. Like aquaponics,

hydroponic systems combine fish and plants to create an ecosystem. Plants utilize oxygen

and remove carbon dioxide from the solution, while fish clean the water and provide nutrients.

  Soil mixers:

Soil mixers are tools designed to aerate soils so that air enters the root zone and increases

the effectiveness of plant roots. Many soil mixers are powered by electricity, although there

are also manual versions.

  Drip tape:

Drip tape is a tool that delivers small amounts of water to the root area of crops throughout

the day. This conserves water and helps plants regulate their internal environment.

  Grow lights:

Grow lights are lights that help increase the photosynthetic activity in plants by providing

more light than what natural sunlight provides. There are two major categories of grow lights:

high-pressure sodium lamps and metal halide lamps.

Advantages:

The advantages of robotic machines are as follows:

Easy Operation:

The first advantage of the robotic machine is that its operation is simple. If you have a basic

knowledge of electricity, then you will not find any technical difficulties while operating the

robot. The second benefit of using robots is that they are quite cheap compared to human

labor costs. There are some companies who provide their own services at a lower price than

others. But the best thing about these types of a robot is that you do not need to pay high

wages to people who work for them. These machines are affordable and the money saved

can be used to improve other aspects of your company rather than paying higher salaries

to employees.

Quality:

Another great use of robotic machinery is that it ensures the quality of the product being

produced. Robots are generally programmed to perform a specific task over and over again.

They may repeat the same action thousands of times per hour without a break. This means

that the output will be consistent and guaranteed. You will never get low-quality products from

these machines since the processes are automated.

 Speed:

These machines are faster than humans in performing a particular task. A person working

alone cannot produce the amount of output that a machine can. It could take weeks to

complete a certain job if done by hand. However, robots can perform tasks much quicker than

people. This gives your business an edge since you can keep up with time requirements.

 Consistent Output:

It is possible to predict how many products or units you will receive when you program the

robots. This means that there will be no variation in the quality of the final product. Because

of this, you know exactly what to expect each and every day. You do not need to worry about

the quality of the product since you already have an idea of the outcome.

 High Productivity:

Since robots can run almost nonstop, they are able to perform several jobs simultaneously.

The simultaneous nature of the process allows for more productivity. In addition, a single

worker can only perform two or three different tasks before needing to rest. When you add

another worker, the number increases since each individual can handle twice as many tasks.

 Versatility:

With the right programming, robots can adapt to new situations. For example, if you want to

change the settings of your robot, you simply have to make a few adjustments. Robots are

very versatile compared to human workers since they can work in various conditions with

ease.

Low Labor Costs:

There are several factors that contribute to a decrease in labor costs. The first factor is that

you do not require a large workforce to operate the machine. Since the machines are

automated, fewer individuals are needed to oversee their functions. The final reason why

these machines are cheaper than human labor is that they are more productive. One unit

can replace five or six people during peak hours.

Disadvantages:

A few of the disadvantages of robotic machines are as follows:

Robots do not have hands:

A disadvantage to robots is that they cannot pick things up. A robot cannot grab something;

therefore, if it is going to work at home, then it must be programmed to know how to find

objects and put them back where they belong.

 Robots cannot tell time:

Another disadvantage to robots is that their memory gets erased when they recharge.

This means that once a robot runs out of power, it loses its knowledge. Therefore, it must be

re-programmed whenever it runs out of battery charge.

 Robots take too much space:

There are times when it would be easier to build a small device instead of making a larger

robot. Small devices are less expensive, require less maintenance, and use less room.

They are also cheaper to make and repair than bigger ones.

Robots are loud:

When working, robots are always noisy. If they are placed near bedrooms or children, they

may cause noise pollution because children often sleep with earplugs and adults sometimes

wear headphones.

 Robots are hard to control:

Because robots work automatically, they are hard to control. You must program the robot’s

function before it can begin to operate. When programming a robot, you must first set the task,

then write instructions, and finally test the robot to make sure it works correctly.
